Dr. Billiar, Professor and Head of Biomedical Engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, is intrigued by mechanobiology, the way in which mechanical forces regulate the development and healing of connective tissues and the pathogenesis of disease. He is a passionate teacher of biomechanics, a dedicated advisor of students, and advocate for inclusion. Dr. Billiar is a fellow of BMES, ASME, and AIMBE and is a Fulbright Scholar.
