Matthew Trone is a Ph.D. candidate in biomedical engineering at the University of Utah. He is in the Back Pain and Engineered Therapeutics Laboratory, advised by Dr. Robby Bowles. Currently, Matthew is using CRISPR epigenome editing to study mechanisms of degeneration and pain from degenerative disc disease. Matthew received his B.S. in chemical engineering from Brigham Young University and his M.S. in biomedical engineering from the University of Utah. When not in the lab, Matthew enjoys running marathons, baking bread, snowboarding, and hiking.
