My name is Miryam Adelfio and I am an international PhD Candidate at the University of Massachusetts-Lowell under the guidance of Professor Chiara E. Ghezzi. The goal of my research is to develop an in vitro dynamic gingival tissue model to investigate long-term host-pathogen interactions in the context of periodontal health and disease. My short- and long-term goals are to apply for a post-doctoral position and to pursue an academic career in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine.
