My name is Allison Boboltz, and I just began my third year as a Bioengineering PhD student in Dr. Gregg Duncan's Respiratory NanoBioengineering Lab at the University of Maryland. I work on in vitro models of immune cell dysfunction in airway diseases, including the work I am presenting in understanding the role of neutrophil extracellular traps in cystic fibrosis. I earned my BS degree in biomedical engineering from the University of Virginia, where I researched mostly in the field of bacteria and synthetic biology with Dr. Bryan Berger and with the startup company AgroSpheres. After completing my PhD I am most interested in returning to industry to work as a scientist but remain open to a career as an academic.
