Session Title for Website and App: Lessons Learned from the BME Summit

Special Session Program Description: In May 2024, the BME community joined together for the Council of Chairs BME Education Summit to discuss trends in education across the field of biomedical engineering. The goal of the summit was to evaluate our collective goals for biomedical engineering education and develop approaches to our challenges as we navigate an evolving student population with different teaching, motivational, and support needs. The summit covered four main thematic areas: Theme 1: Update on strategies for enhanced learning environments and evidence-based practices in undergraduate programs, Theme 2: Resources for student and faculty success, Theme 3: The future of graduate programs in biomedical engineering, and Theme 4: Industry-readiness skills for an evolving and diversified job market. This session will share with the BME community the top themes that emerged from the breakout sessions for each theme and have participants engage in sharing and brainstorming sessions for how to tackles some of these challenges that face our educational landscape. After a presentation of the key findings, we will invite a student panel of chapter representatives to give the students perspectives on the findings.
