Session Title for Website and App: Undergrad research opportunities with the NIH Intramural Research Program: summer internship program, biomedical engineering summer internship program, and NIH post-baccalaureate research program
Special Session Program Description: Summer Internship Program and the NIH Postbac program are both full-time research positions within one of the NIH Institutes and Centers (IC) in the NIH Intramural Research Program for students interested in exploring careers in research and healthcare. Summer interns are students returning to enrollment in an accredited community college, college, or university after their research experience. Postbac program is for recent college graduates considering graduate or professional school in healthcare and STEM fields after one or two years of research at NIH. NIH offers research opportunities in the biomedical, behavioral, and social sciences with opportunities to explore basic, translational, and clinical research. Students interested in biology, engineering, epidemiology, psychology, mathematics, chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, nursing, physics, computer science, bioinformatics, and other health-related fields are invited to apply. This panel discussion will share information about preparing successful applications for this program, and will have both previous and current summer interns, postbacs, and their PIs to share their experiences during these NIH funded research opportunities.
