Hyehyun Kim is a Ph.D. candidate in the Biomedical Engineering Department at UC Davis. Her research focus is on using the tri-culture (neuron, astrocyte, and microglia) model to study the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease, particularly in the clearance of amyloid beta by microglia. She is especially intrigued by the functionality and the motility of microglia responding to different stimuli that can lead to neuroinflammatory and neurodegenerative diseases. Additionally, she is interested in the relationship between neuronal activity and the role of microglia cells under disease conditions.
