Postdoctoral Research Associate at Brown University studying the onset of neuroinflammation following traumatic brain injury in vitro using 3D cortical spheroids. Dual appointment at the Department of Neuroscience and School of Engineering at Brown University. Puerto Rican neuroscientist and tissue engineer. As a biomedical engineer, I am interested in understanding the mechanobiological phenomena driving tissue formation and injury/disease progression in neuronal tissues in vitro using 3D culture platforms. My BME career and research mentors include Profs. Cynthia Reinhart-King (BME Masters degree at Cornell University), Prof. Eric Darling (BME PhD degree at Brown University), Profs. Diane Hoffman-Kim, Haneesh Kesari, and Christian Franck (Postdoctoral career at Brown University). Currently looking for tenure-track faculty positions in BME.
