Dr. Hyouarm Joung received his B.S. and M.S. in Chemical Engineering from Chungnam National University, South Korea in 2005 and 2007, respectively. In 2015, he obtained his Ph.D. in Physics and Photon Sciences from Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST), South Korea in 2015. Dr. Hyouarm Joung has 17 years of experience in research and development of in-vitro diagnostics, resulting in 27 co-authored research papers, 13 US patents, and 20 Korean patents related with diagnostic testing. During his position as Research Manager at Osang Healthcare in Anyang, Korea, Dr. Joung led the commercial development of a portable cholesterol monitoring system (called ‘LipidProTM’). In addition to the product development, he established a production line for mass manufacturing of the LipidPro, and created the Quality Control/Quality Assurance protocols, leading to the approval from the FDA, Chinese FDA, and CE mark. In addition, in 2009 he helped establish performance evaluation protocols for the Korean FDA to review new in-vitro diagnostic products. In addition, in 2016, he joined Dr. Ozcan's research team and has leaded the R&D of xVFA, and in 2020, he is contributing to the commercialization of the technology as a co-founder of Hana Diagnostics Inc.
