Casie Slaybaugh, BS, is a third-year PhD Student at Virginia Commonwealth University in the Pulmonary Mechanobiology Lab. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Science and Medicine, Health, & Society from Vanderbilt University. Her current research focuses on discovering and testing treatments for severe lung injury using animal models. Casie has presented her work at many professional conferences including American Thoracic Society, Society for Biomaterials, and, of course, Biomedical Engineering Society. Casie is a central Virginia native and loves sharing her research with fellow professionals as well as folks outside of the scientific community. In her free time, Casie enjoys cooking, reading, and cuddling with her cats, often simultaneously.
