Dr. Brigitta Brott, MD obtained a Bachelor of Science in Materials Science and Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She completed her medical degree at Loyola University, Stritch School of Medicine in Maywood, IL in 1988 and completed an Internal Medicine residency in 1991 at Beth Israel Medical Center – Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA. Dr. Brott completed both a General Cardiology fellowship (1994) and an Interventional Cardiology fellowship in 1995 at Duke University, Durham, NC. Afterwards, she was hired on with Vanderbilt University and stayed there for four years before joining the Division of Cardiovascular Disease at UAB. Dr. Brott is an active member of the Interventional Cardiology section, and serves as the Director of the Interventional Cardiology Fellowship Program.
Dr. Brott serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of the American College of Cardiology and JACC: Cardiovascular Interventions, and on several councils, journal, and grant review committees. She is also the co-founder of Endomimetics, LLC.
