Linus Wang is a third year Biomedical Engineering PhD student in the lab of Dr. Peter Searson at Johns Hopkins University. His primary research interests are in tissue engineering, microfluidics, and infectious diseases. He is currently studying how Borrelia burgdorferi, the bacteria that causes Lyme disease, undergo vascular dissemination to infect various parts of the body such as the brain. Using a 3D tissue-engineered microvessel, we aim to determine the dynamics and mechanics of how Borrelia intravasate and extravasate out of the vascular system.
