Fariha Rahman is a 4th year PhD Candidate in the Legant Lab at UNC specializing in a form of super-resolution microscopy called single molecule localization microscopy (SMLM). Her primary project has been to implement multiplexed SMLM of epigenetic and other chromatin-related targets in human cells. Additionally, she has participated in the characterization of novel spontaneously blinking dyes for SMLM. Previously, as an MS Thesis student in the DeForest Lab at the University of Washington, she worked on the development and optimization of an orthogonal sortase-catalyzed protein release system from click-polymerized poly(ethylene glycol)-based gels and gained experience with biomaterial engineering.
