Mollie Harrison is a third-year Ph.D. candidate in biomedical engineering at the University of Texas at Austin where she works with Dr. Stephanie Seidlits to study the tumor microenvironment and cell metabolism in glioblastoma using brain-mimicking hydrogel systems. Her work is specifically focused on understanding the interplay between matrix stiffness and hypoxia on glioblastoma signaling and metabolism and how these intracellular processes result in phenotypic changes such as proliferation, invasion, and treatment resistance. Mollie previously received her bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Missouri - Columbia, where she worked on simple signaling molecules for angiogenesis with Dr. Bret Ulery.
