Graduate Student
Massachusetts Institute of Technology, United States
Elif grew up in Istanbul, Turkey, and graduated with highest honors from Georgia Tech with a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering. As an undergraduate PURA Awardee, Elif worked in Dr. Gabe Kwong’s lab on engineering T cells for thermal control. She led a project on characterizing the thermal sensitivity and heat activation of engineered T cells. Additionally, she worked on optimizing transfection complex sizes to maximize AVV genomic titers as a co-op at Regeneron. Elif was also awarded the Outstanding Student Award by Genentech and spent a summer at Genentech analyzing clinical trial data from individualized cancer vaccines. Elif returned to LSI full-time to continue her focus on engineering T cells for cancer immunotherapies.
