Carl Schulman, MD, PhD, MSPH, earned his medical degree from the University of South Florida College of Medicine in 1995. He completed his training in general surgery and received additional training in trauma and surgical critical care at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center. Certified by the American Board of Surgery in general surgery and surgical critical care, his prior experience includes a two-year NIH Research Training Fellowship. He also completed his Master’s of Science in Public Health and PhD in Epidemiology to enhance his research focusing on the epidemiology of burns and trauma. He is the Director of the William Lehman Injury Research Center at the Ryder Trauma Center. He has been awarded grants from The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the Department of Defense and the CDC among others. His clinical practice includes Burns and Surgical Critical Care at the Ryder Trauma Center. He has authored over 150 publications and is a reviewer for numerous journals.
