Nicole is a third-year graduate student in the Aguado Lab at the University of California, San Diego. She works on using synthetic biomaterials to develop patient-specific in vitro models of aortic valve stenosis in order to investigate how biological sex can drive dimorphisms observed in disease pathogenesis. Specifically, Nicole works in understanding how sex chromosomes influence somatic cell epigenetics involved in aortic valve fibro-calcification.
